I think one of the things I hate the most about watching the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade is how my dad complains about the music. *G* However, I want to know why they're not singing happier songs. WHY ARE YOU COMPLAINING ABOUT LEAVING YOUR BOYFRIEND IN THE THANKSGIVING PARADE? :|

Unfortunately, I didn't get any NaNoWriMo writing done yesterday. This is what happens! I'll have to write double as much today! I WAS SUPPOSE TO HIT 50K, DAMN IT.

NaNoWriMo - Day 9

Halfway point, yes! I'm so happy with how things are going! :D

Also, I've not actually said anything about what I'm writing about. So!

I'm writing a horror story called The Unwilling Summon (I would say that's the working title but I've managed to get pretty attached to it, no matter how cheesy it is!). It's about this boy, Josh Walkens (seventeen) who has seen hallucinations and things all his life. After the suicidal death of his father, however, those visions get more intense. He and his mother decide to move to a small town in Virginia called High Point. Each step in the journey, however, the visions get worse and Josh realizes that he's going exactly where they want him to go.

dun dun DUUUUUUN.

So yes. This is horror but it's also YA with a dash of romance (I had no intentions of adding that romance in but damn it, Josh and Kevin insisted). So far things are going pretty well, though there are some problems - Josh, as a protagonist, goes back and forth between Mr. Sarcastic Guy and Mr. Shy Guy and I can't decide how I really want him to be; the road trip is a little redundant, however there are some pretty good scenes in; I have no idea how I am at building up tension and suspense. These are issues for December though! For now, I'm pretty pleased with how it's going and I'm hoping I can hit 30,000 tomorrow. I hope, I hope, I hope!

And for those of you who totally don't care about NaNo, Signups for Yuletide are a go! Are you ready? I SURE AM.

And for those of you who totally don't care about NaNo or Yuletide...I'm sorry. I got nothing. :(

So my boss got bitched out today by our DM on my behalf. Because even though I'm suppose to be spending 35 hours a week in my department, I've only been getting 32-33 hours a week and two-three days are spent on register, which means that my back room is not in the shape it should be.

And we got a truck today and I had four buggies of stuff outside my apparel room and DM shows up and says "What's all this?! D: D: D:" Dude, we just had a massive truck, you stupid fucktard, this is my freight. You know. The shit that I've got to get out, even though you want me to get all of the fall/winter shit clearance that's packed up?

I am displeased, guys. VERY DISPLEASED. I've got 40 hours next week (because this is how it goes: payroll is cut back again. And again, and again. We get behind. DM shows up and is unhappy. Gives us better payroll for a couple of weeks. Then payroll is cut again. I think you get it). Unfortunately, on Saturday (HALLOWEEEEEN~) I have to work 8-5. I was going to dress up but, uh, guess not. My costume is too hot to wear and work for that long. :(

However, NaNoWriMo starts in a couple of days and I'm feeling ALRIGHT.

SO. I'm actually going to participate in Yuletide this year (first time and I'm scared!). Fandom nominations are up and I nominated Here is Greenwood, Hellboy (movie), Zombieland, Let Dai, Spirited Away, and Petshop of Horrors. A nice mixture, I feel, and FUCK YEAH, ZOMBIELAND.

I just got back from watching Zombieland.

HOLY FUCKING CRAP IT'S LIKE THEY CREATED A MOVIE BASED ON ALL OF MY PERSONAL NEEDS AND WANTS.

All four characters ended up being likable (I was actually worried about everyone except Columbus - who I was destined to like - but Tallahassee ended up being extremely likable (okay, everything he did made me lol, I'm not even exaggerating) and even Wichita and Little Rock made me laugh - they stole the guys' car twice. TWICE - and also, I really love Abigail Breslin, okay, I'm not even going to lie. That little girl is awesome.

Oh, oh, and I knew Columbus was going to shoot Bill Murray. GUYS REALLY. YOU ARE SURROUNDED BY ZOMBIES, DO NOT TRY AND PULL A PRANK ON A GUY WITH A SHOTGUN HOLY CRAP. Although his death was hilarious and when Wichita laughed and said "It's still very sad though" or something like that, I died, I laughed so hard.

AND NO DOWNER ENDING. That was my main problem with Shaun of the Dead - at the third act, everything got serious and the funny left the building. Not so in Zombieland; it stayed ridiculous and campy and Tallahassee with the guns in that little gaming room thing and the silly shooting stances and Wichita and Little Rock getting on the Free Fall (or whatever that ride was) to get away from the Zombies and OMG COLUMBUS FACING OFF AGAINST THE ZOMBIE CLOWN and and-

TALLAHASSEE FINALLY GETTING THAT FUCKING TWINKIE OMG. HIS FAAAAAACE. :D

Guys. This movie brought me glee and happiness. Perma-happy!high, GO.

ATLA Drabbles!

OH! I haven't posted these yet! The three drabbles I submitted for atla_thelibrary's first contest. Oooh yeah. <3

Reaching out, he touched the crown that sat atop his head, fingers softly grazing over it's sharp curves and points. Taking a deep breath, he stared at himself in the mirror, noticing - almost analytically - his pale cheeks and too-wide eyes. He shook his head before turning away. This is what he'd worked for. This was what he wanted. He should be proud. He was proud.

Taking a second deep breath, he turned towards the heavy curtain and pushed it back. The sun streamed in, as did the screams and cheers of his people.

"All hail, Fire Lord Zuko!"

Katara sat at the small table, fingers curved loosely around her cup. Across from her a second cup sat, it's contents quickly cooling. She paid it no mind, instead staring into the distance as the sun slowly began to set, it's rays casting long, heavy shadows.

She seemed to come back to herself after a moment, rubbing her hands over her face briskly before reaching over and picking the cup up. Standing, she stared out at the setting sun, eyes narrowing against it's dying light, before bowing deeply. A small, heavy-hearted smile ghosted over barely trembling lips.

"Good night, Aang."

Zuko refused to fidget. He refused to. "What is it, Jet?"

Jet raised an eyebrow. "I never did thank you for saving me at Lake Laogai."

"Don't. It was the right thing to do."

Jet snorted. "Right. I still hate the Fire Nation."

Zuko winced. "I know." Frustration seeped into his voice. "I hope that-"

Jet leaned forward, hand darting up to touch Zuko's cheek in a quick, careless caress. "I still hate them," he repeated, lip curling up into a smirk. "But maybe you're okay." He stepped back, smirking at Zuko's startled expression. "Let's go. Aang's waiting for us."

So I get a call tonight from newest ops manager asking me if I can come in at noon tomorrow and 8am on Thursday.

So I'm working 12-9pm tomorrow and 8-4 Thursday. With Thursday being truck day. RAAAAH I HATE NIGHT SHIFT AND THEN HAVING TO COME RIGHT BACK AROUND TO WORK MORNING.

My check will be awesome though (we never get 40 hours a week, I usually get around 34 - this week I'll be getting 38). Just have to keep that in mind.

At least it's not as bad as last weekend. Homes were flooded. Rivers and ponds overflowed. The Georgia governor declared a state of emergency. Ack!

ffffuuuuuuuuuuuu

Guys? I am tired. Like, really tired. Today was a day off but it was also graduation. Yay! And also: aaaahhhhh! I don't do these things like normal people. I'm pretty sure most people are 90% excited and proud, and 10% panicked. I'm the opposite! Because I focus so much on the bad (what if I fall across the stage? - what if I don't recognize anyone? - what if what if what if) that I don't have time to be totally psyched about graduating!

Or maybe that is the way most people are. I have no idea. But it was a lovely ceremony and I did see people that I knew and exchanged email addresses and whatnot, so. Yay!

Also, I ordered the season 1, part 2 set of Fullmetal Alchemist but I was totally mistaken about what episodes were on it and now I have a set that I don't need. GODDAMN IT. :( I am very sad about this. You guys, you just don't know the utter disappointment that ran through me. It was a bit startling. I love Fullmetal Alchemist (just, you know, A MILLION YEARS LATE ON THAT) and I want to know what happeeeeeens. Yeah, I know Brotherhood is coming out, blah, blah, I know the original anime diverges A LOT from the manga, blah, blah, I see the two as two separate canons - that way I can enjoy them both. YES. MORE FULLMETAL ALCHEMIST FOR ME TO ENJOY. I SHIP ED WITH EVERYONE. EVERYONE. Is this fandom still active? Imma have to check it out.

It's a bit premature to cheer but I don't care because HOLY OMG I'm getting a promotion! One that comes with a raise and holiday pay and paid vacation and health insurance (I haven't had health insurance since I was 18!) and more hours and, and-!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It'll be a little while before I start getting trained, as the person whose position I'm filling is being trained for management and won't be able to train me until she's ready but that's okay - I'll have time to study for the expertise test I have to take.

(also, omg nervous, I'm getting responsibilities I've never had before and duuuude, I hope I don't fuck this up)

So a couple of weeks ago I joined page_a_day with the intent of writing at least 200 words a day. Because I am lame, I didn't do this. Instead, I forgot about it (it's what I do!).

However! Several people on my DW and LJ f-lists have been keeping track of their daily word counts via their journals. This seems like a good idea so I will do as I have always done when confronted with a good idea: I WILL STEAL IT. Perhaps I will even keep this up? And actually FINISH SOMETHING.

Dogs?

Cats are definitely the favorite of the internets. I love them, they are feline-y and (usually) graceful and are the only animals capable of making me feel dumb. This might be one of the reasons why I prefer dogs! No, no. There are several reason why. But those aren't important. What's important is what's behind the cut; namely, the two dogs that I know and (usually) love. :D

This is Boo. She is a pug and belongs to my niece. She's taking part in one of her most favoritest of activities: begging for food. No need to look so stressed, Boopie - you know you're going to get some.

This is Micah. He's an Australian Shepherd/Doberman mix and he's mine (though some days I have to share with my mom). He too, is taking part in a favorite activity: BEING TOTALLY FUCKING AWESOME. Micah believes he is a lapdog, which is hilarious and also somewhat painful. He's the guard dog - unfortunately, he's afraid of storms and guns. STILL A GREAT GUARD DOG THO'. We're never surprised when someone shows up. XD
